I haven't found official documentation for this, but I believe the SCD component is case sensitive.

If I'm not mistaken, the Excel file should already be created before you attempt to write data to it.

Great question, but it would good to mention that HTTP,SOAP was deprecated in SQL Server 2008 R2 and ultimately removed in SQL 2012.

It depends. What is your source system? Can it handle extra load such as the CDC process?
Do you need to capture intermediate updates or only the final one?
