  • RE: A true million SSc members

Okay, if we're going with the "binary million", then it's actually 1024 squared, which would be 1048576. That's the old "binary meg", as opposed to "decimal meg".

    Hard...

  • RE: Find the dependents on a column of primary table

Something like this would do it very, very efficiently. Too bad you don't like joins. (Refusing to use Joins in SQL is kind of like refusing to use...

  • RE: Find the dependents on a column of primary table

You could build something using the sys.foreign_key_columns system view. Not sure why you wouldn't want to use Joins.

  • RE: select statement help

Without having the actual table names, this is about the closest I can get on this:

    select

    Date,

    Material_Name + '\' + Material_Type as [Material_Name\Material_Type],

    Table1.Consumer,

    case [Day]

    when 'Day' then 'Day'

    else 'N/A'

    end as...

  • RE: Do You Verify Your Database Backups?

I do semi-random spot checks. I restore one or two backups a week to test them, picking different databases different times. I've never yet had one fail, but...

  • RE: Index selection + C or NC ?

Test your queries, use "set statistics time on" and "set statistics io on", and see which index works best for you.

  • RE: Are the posted questions getting worse?

Ender's Game was good, but I didn't like the follow-ups.

On "light fantasy", it just doesn't get better than the Diskworld books.

  • RE: Rebuilding indexes

Looks to me like you could wrap all of that in a cursor that would step through the databases one by one.

  • RE: Messure table activity

You could find that from the log files, if you can get a parser. Another way to get it might be a server trace.
