    Irreparably suspect, no backups.

Doesn't say much for my mood that I slightly enjoyed posting that last message there. Wrong, I know.

  • RE: selecting 'next min() date' from a historic recordset

So, what you need is a list of the dates that immediately follow a PA, whether they are EN or not?

That's easy enough. Just select all the PAs, and...

  • RE: VB.Net or Not

C# will get you more "resume opportunities", because it's got more egos attached to it that think it's a superior language. Since both go through the CLR JIT compiler,...

  • RE: Little Devices

I've used mine for a lot of productivity increases, without increasing hours.

I can answer e-mails while not at my desk, which doesn't equate to "at home", and so on.

  • RE: How to repeat/or duplicate my results?

Cross join to a table with the number of rows equal to the number of repetitions you need. Numbers tables are useful for that.

I'm not sure if it's a typo or an actual error, but you partition by col2 twice in your CTE.

I'm also not sure what you mean about an update producing...

  • RE: selecting 'next min() date' from a historic recordset

Are you familiar with writing inline subqueries?

    Would look something like this:

    select *,

    (select min([DATE])

    from dbo.MyTable as MT2

    where [DATE] > MyTable.[DATE]

    and (ST = 'PA'...

  • RE: Hierarchy Options

I covered hierarchies of a couple of types in http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/T-SQL/65540/.

Personally, with what you've described, I'd probably go with nested sets. The only thing they don't do well is frequent...

  • RE: Need Help! Can you please answer some of my questions. Thanks very much in advance!

Normalization makes for faster updates. Denormalization can, in some cases, make for faster selects, if it's done correctly. That's really oversimplified, but if you want a more complete...
