Use "select *" if you really want all the columns.
The second method is clever (but could do with some improvements), but "clever" and "should be used in a production environment"...

I'm also not sure how "Order By" would apply to a delete statement, unless you are deleting "delete top 10 from MyTable order by MyDateColumn" or something like that.
