    I can attest to this. There are a lot of mediocre candidates out there that I wouldn't let near an Access database, let alone SQL Server. I suppose...

    How does is the system supposed to tell that the rows that start with 10, some of them go with the AA first value, others go with the BB first...

    If I need the columns in a particular order, I query sys.columns, and Order By name or whatever.

    If the dataset is above a certain size (depends on your use of it), insert into a temp table before you join it to other things.
