I would need source tables and sample data to help convert that proc to an inline function. It looks like it could be converted to a simple Cross Apply...

Unless you're using Enterprise-only features, you should be able to detach and re-attach from Enterprise to Standard, without having to jump through any significant hoops.

On the original question, I usually try to do most of the work on the DW server. Busy OLTP systems are usually more sensitive to load increases than OLAP...
