    New Born DBA (4/29/2014)

I have no skill on performance tuning whatsoever, however I tried following this link https://www.simple-talk.com/sql/performance/finding-the-causes-of-poor-performance-in-sql-server,-part-1/ and ran a trace.

You'll never see more than 4 threads in the RUNNABLE or RUNNING states. Scheduler ID is just which scheduler the thread is associated with.

  • RE: Anyone Using or Planning to Use Memory-Optimized Tables?

No plans, but I have advised two clients to consider replacing SQL 2012 with SQL 2014 in their upgrade plans. Partially because, knowing these guys, they won't actually upgrade until...

You never need to create a dummy database before restoring. The restore process creates the database. Creating an empty database and then restoring over it is just a waste of...

An .ndf will be part of a full database backup (BACKUP DATABASE ...) and will be restored as part of a full database restore (RESTORE DATABASE)

Columns cannot be present twice in an index.

It's so that when someone changes a clustered index, your carefully crafted nonclustered index doesn't suddenly become useless. I don't like side effects,...

For certain values of "works"... 🙂
