If you're going the detach-attach route, you NEED the ldf files. Otherwise there's a chance that the databases will not attach. The log is not an optional file.

The generic approach is to upgrade to a SQL Server cluster (where multiple SQL Server instances concurrently access the suite of databases)
SQL Server doesn't support scaleout-clusters like you describe....

No use whatsoever. SQL uses transaction logs serially, it does not stripe log records across log files nor use them in parallel.
