thanks. Gail but the reason why we are shrinking the logfile is because sometimes the logfile is huge and takes lot of time to copy for logshipping.

Join in the sys.indexes view. It joins on object_id and index_id and the index name is a column in there.

All queries take a shared database lock, to ensure that the DB doesn't disappear out from underneath them. Exclusive DB lock? That should be limited to db reconfigurations & setting...
