Don't use ShowContig. It's deprecated, will be removed in a future version of SQL server and should not be used for new development.
The replacement is sys.dm_db_index_physical_stats

Alter != Drop + Create

iirc, to truncate a table you have to be either
1) Owner of the table
2) member of ddl_admin fixed database role.
