What was the exact error you got? Was it a SQL error (appearing in the messages pane) or an SSMS error (appearing as a message box)?

If you're taking file/filegroup backups, when you restore you'll need to restore Primary, restore the other files/filegroups, then restore log backups that cover the interval at least between the oldest...

If it's only updated once a day (so no need to worry about point-in-time restore) I wouldn't bother with log backups at all.

It's not that simple. There are three allocation structures that track page usage. This extent (group of 8 pages) is marked as allocated in one but not in the others....

At some point between when the full backup ran and when you are trying to run the log backup, someone has switched the database from full recovery to simple recovery...
