The backup WILL be succeeding. Backups don't fail due to corruption unless you're taking the backup WITH Checksum. Even then backup of corrupt DB may succeed.

Can you run SQLCMD (the command line tool), connect to this DB and run the checkDB again. I think that SQLCMD will give all 3000 errors instead of the 1000...
