    Tune the code, tune the queries, there's no 'go faster' switch in SQL (shrink however is a very nice 'go slower' switch)

    That reads the active portion of the transaction log. While there is a free log reader tool for SQL 2000, all you'll be able to get is the database user...

    gail may I know reason?

    Because it needs to recreate the database as it was at the time of backup, a 1.6TB sized database.

    Specify each file and where it goes, see Books Online for full details, I know there's an example on the Restore database page that covers...

    That information doesn't exist unless you had a trace running at the time the procedure was created. SQL does not track it at all by default. (and before someone suggests...

    If you are restoring that database, you need 1.6TB of space to restore it.
