You have to alter the login to change the date. The system tables cannot be directly updated.

Because the only thing that compatibility mode controls is how the query processor interprets some T-SQL constructs. It does not affect new features, it does not affect database structure.

Same reason the missing index DMVs see fit to recommend multiple duplicates and indexes including the entire table. They're solely about 'what's the absolute best index for this query'
