There is no conversion for character size. From Varchar to NVarchar is a implicit conversion. See BOL "CAST and CONVERT (Transact-SQL) " for table

I am no security expert but what about EXECUTE AS?
Thats one option.
The other one is to use a signed stored procedure. This is definetly more secure option...

The culprit is the compliance manager. According to Idera the only fix is to keep all error messages from the Windows Event Log. From Idera solutions:
