You have posted in the Sql Server 7,2000 forum , are you really using an old version ?

Yep endtime of the first call, is 10 milliseconds sooner than the starttime of the second call. Nothing happens inbetween the two calls.

Same result set from both. Why...

Sounds as if it is begin run twice by the client.

Am i correct in assuming that the starttime and endtime are different and contiguous ?

The general consensus it that abs(checksum(newid()))%100 is the bettet method to generate random numbers.

Just guessing but maybe your server is not able to do reverse DNS lookups ?
