Interpreting the results from this isn't straightforward, at least not to me. I prefer the output formatted like this:
SELECT Strings, x.Goodchars, y.Badchars
FROM #t
CROSS APPLY (
SELECT SUBSTRING(Strings,n,1)
FROM (SELECT TOP (DATALENGTH(Strings))...
