I guess, they are not required. Have you searched online, I have seen many threads related to that in SSC itself.

I would suggest looking into the SQL Server Error Log located in the \LOG Directory of the installation path.

It is a text file and can be opened with any text...

I guess that is not possible unless you use Linked Server.

Look at the section Moving the tempdb database.

What is the error being reported by the SQL Agent, check the log directory of your instance for the error file, you could open it using any text editor.
