Have you verified comparing the Database sizes of the Primary and the stand by database? If they are not nearly the same size, I would guess it is not restoring...

I second Jason's view, Standard edition should be suffice, unless you need DB Mirroring, Data compression, Database Partitioning and many other enterprise level features..
