And the question of how many columns in a table depends on a couple things, it's not a fixed number. Maybe they were wanting to see if you knew...

Maybe they are trying to see if you know the limits and basics of SQL, they are all valid questions.

You cannot take a backup of an individual table or a subset of that tables data by any normal native backup routines.

The only options are to export the data into...

Your system ran out of memory, need better hardware, render less information etc

back the data you want up into another table

something like this

select * into tablename_backup from tablename where somecol = 1000

You can check the ExecutionLog view in the ReportServer DB, but it only stores information for a limited period of time.

Other than that you will need some sort of custom...

Profiler will only log when an event occurs so if your seeing many login logouts then your system is processing many logins and logouts.

Also check the windows error logs for when the services where supposed to have started up, will help in the investigation

The target isn't big enough to take the data from the source.

Find the offending column(s) and increase the size.
