The clustered index is the table.
So whatever you insert into the table is stored in the clustered index.
You insert the value 10, the clustered index value is 10

Backup compression is lossless (IIRC) so someone with knowledge of compression could revert the compression algorithm.
Then again encryption is also reversible, you will have backups of your certs / keys...

What do you define as confidential information?
Things like Red-Gate SQL Compare can read a diff backup to get the schema, unsure on Data Compare
