Only way I know is to run a trace that captures it. Or you can just do it by convention, run a proc that records the IP when they login.

It should work as long as there is only one transaction log file. If you have multiple, I've got an article posted that has a workaround.

It will work fine - transactions wont get truncated from the log until the logreader agent has processed them.

We rolled our own recently using SQL - we needed a way to map session vars between asp and aspx sessions. Worked out pretty well.
