Agree. The way to avoid is to put the proc in each db (if you can) and when you execute, fully qualify the proc - dbname.owner.procname.

It does sound like a permission issue. Does the subscriber login you're using have execute rights on that proc? Try temporarily adding the login to db_owner, see if problem goes...

We code procs directly to the table (unless we really need a view), but commonly I do use select * views when I need to grant access for selects outside...
