Database backup is Full ( run at 9 PM)
Transaction Log backups are daily at 12 PM CST

Veritas is our backup software and the logs are not being shrunk after the completes.
A backup alone will not shrink the log files - ever.

Fearless and clueless is a very dangerous combination...
What he should have done is of course to detach the DB, move the files and then attach the DB with the files...

Actually no, it's not. That's version 9.00.3050. I have 9.0.3159 and there are newer versions after that one...

In my opinion, Microsoft is not very good at helping us keep track of all their new versions, releases, service packs and hotfixes - it's more or less a jungle out...

Okay, I just tried it and I stand corrected: No, you can NOT restore anything backed up from a 2005 server on a 2000 server.

Actually, I believe you can - if, and only if - you change the compatibility level of the database on SQL Server 2005 before making the backup. I have not tried...
