  • RE: Computer Math

    dale_berta (7/21/2016)

Interesting. Is this in every release of T-SQL, or could this vary?

I only ever use the += with single values on the right-hand side, so I haven't encountered this....

I can't agree that the computer math was any different than regular math in this case. The computer math was spot on....

  • RE: The basic Aggregate function

    Nice straightforward question.

This is one of those things (like the handling of SUM) the makes me think that someone had a screw loose when they were specifying how aggregates worked...

    Thanks for the question.

    Nice and easy one today

  • RE: Baby Steps to DevOps

I very much like this editorial, it is about what sort of thing the process actually is unlike most of the awful hype about Devops, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and...

I am not sure of the background education of everyone here, but my guess is that there are at least a few people who are unaware of the...

Steve Jones - SSC Editor (7/14/2016)

You are all welcome, and glad I got a good one here. This was something I learned as well.

Actually, I think you got a terrible...

  • RE: The Bad Data Shutdown

Good editorial, but I'm in total disagreement with the final sentence:

Above all, however, no matter what your deployment mechanism for updates, you need to be sure that any data...

  • RE: Democratic Data Science

    David.Poole (6/29/2016)

I've seen people carve themselves a lucrative niche producing artifacts in support of popular opinion and beautifying the obvious. The ones that say the data doesn't support your...

The big challenge with statistics is in communicating what the results actually mean. Understanding that point 51.9 vs 48.1 has no significance in a small sample but becomes...

  • RE: DevOps and Security

    Beatrix Kiddo (6/30/2016)

I work in DevOps, and we don't let developers promote to Production. They take the build all the way through their pipeline, then hand it over to Production...

  • RE: Data Conversion Transformation

If SSIS were a civilised piece or work it would give me the option to tell it allow or disallow truncation, and if I picked disallow tell it what to...
