    1) Search SSC.com for DelimitedSplit8K for a MUCH better split function. However, I predict that the splitting improvements will have essentially ZERO effect on the performance of this process....

    Did you check for blocking?? People forget that concurrent activity can stop SELECTs in their tracks for extended periods sometimes.
