Yes it is single db. Only 3 log files. I think you can have as many as log file (not a good idea, i believe).

Check the free space (space available)and Initial size. you might have lot of free space that make DB size bigger.

When I run your query gives me 31.
when I run:
sp_who2
or
select * from sys.dm_exec_connections
gives me 10 (which is >50 spid) !!!!!

Total DB size is 790 GB. doesn't this help? My question is what's the appropriate size for this large db after shrinking the log file.

Yes, one filled so I added another one. It is full recovery model and backing up T log every hour. What's the ideal size would be for log file?
