I think personally and most probably selfishly, I would be a bit miffed, if points accumulated on the ask site, added to your SSC score, you would be penalising anymore...

You shouldnt have to shrink tempdb, as previously suggested restarting the sql service will recreate the tempdb database at a much lower size

Sounds like a permissions issue, is it exporting to a local directory and what access does it need to write to that excel destination, and what account are you running...

yep you can look at the sql agent log, under sql server agent, there is error logs, look in there.
