Thanks. The above actually worked for me when I removed the a. Can you not set aliases like that in an update?

Hmmm....sounds like I need a processor license. That sucks, that's alot of money for not alot of database usage.

Ah nm I got it. Kind of silly that the default properties of trim string is not to trim anything.

Thanks guys, I did it John's way, with the added Order By Aaron suggested, and I changed this one line;
SET Blanks = g1.AccNo - g2.AccNo - 1
