There's nothing like custom Server roles in 2005+. I would suggest writing a tool or sproc to map a Login to a set of databases for you automatically.

well, that should not have happened, unless by "indexes" you mean something other than SQL Server indexes.

You'll need to use your column name instead of the XML variable, but it should do what you want.
A much more efficient query plan is produced...
