DDL statements do not usually accept a Database name.

Thanks for the Response.I was reading that perhaps creating a UDF (User Defined Function) to process the String would be faster, or perhaps a CLR assembly?

the other records will be untouched.

First, when mixing ANDs with ORs, I strongly recommend using parenthesis to explicitly specify the order of operations.
