Logins for all instances are always groups, example adventureworks_dbo (has dbo permissions), adventureworks_readonly, etc, etc
I keep running into the issue of users getting permissions they shouldn't...

Try running the following commands:
winmgmt /clearadap
winmgmt /resyncperf
Then reboot and see if the problem goes away.
