I'm not sure if SSIS is the right tool for it...
Why not load and process the file using T-SQL? It's kinda old-fashioned, but I'm confident much less painful than trying...

What if the string contains an "@" that isn't actually part of an email address?
Then we'd need the split string, I guess.

The key information in your reply is NHibernate and most probably a misuse of it.
Check your app while a trace is running and check the values needed for functionality vs....
