  • RE: Re-using Dimensions in MDX query for Reporting Services

    Thanks Dan,

I added the parameters using the graphical interface and the MDX query was simply what was constructed as a result of doing that. Being a relative novice at MDX...

  • RE: Placing row in absolute position in report

    Neil,

Ah, it's a line of data rather than a solid line (as in a drawing object). I should have read your original post more thoroughly! How about if you make...

  • RE: MDX Book recommendation

    Thanks Gift Peddie,

The first book listed in the second link is the one I was gravitating towards and it looks like there's a wealth of information in that first link....

  • RE: Placing row in absolute position in report

I'm trying to visualize your requirements and I may have done so incorrectly, but it sounds to me as though you can solve your problem by adding a line (from...

  • RE: Error on Connection String

What does your User::FileName variable contain at runtime? You are trying to use the initial value and append a datetime stamp to it, but if the variable is initially NULL,...

  • RE: Isolation levels - Database Engine

Another poorly worded and ill-thought out question!

  • RE: T-SQL

    Hi Hugo,

Yes, you are right! My fault for not reading the script properly - the AND clause will obviously stop any rows with 2009-02-01 being returned. Doh!

    Anyway, a salutory lesson...

  • RE: T-SQL

    Hi Hugo,

I don't get a conversion error, I simply get all of my results showing as '2009-01-31' plus whatever the hours, minutes and seconds are, so far from needing to...

  • RE: T-SQL

I would write it as '2009-01-31' and all my returned values are for that date. I'm using the Collation Latin1_General_CI_AS, my Location is set to United Kingdom and my...

  • RE: T-SQL

    hakan.winther (2/17/2009)

But you still have to remember that inserted/updated values will also be rounded. So if you try to insert '2009-01-31 23:59:59.999' it will be rounded to the next day....

  • RE: T-SQL

    Hugo Kornelis (2/17/2009)

    Hi Glen,

No, that's not correct. The upper limit in the BETWEEN proposition (2009-01-31 23:59:59.999) has to be converted to a proper datetime value. It can either be rounded...

  • RE: T-SQL

Do the QotDs get moderated/checked at all? This would have prevented much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

  • RE: Importing settings from one SQL Server 2005 instance to another

Poorly worded question - ambiguous like some of the questions on the Microsoft exams!

  • RE: Database Snapshots

From my limited testing (done some more since previous post) it seems that a database can be taken offline and brought online even if a snapshot exists and changes have...

  • RE: Database Snapshots

    Peter Rijs (1/15/2009)

I don't think that is misleading at all.

"...bring ... online if a snapshots is created on source database?": IMHO that would directly point to a NO, no...
