That's... odd.
Can you provide the ddl of the table you're reading from, and can you recreate it in a test script that isn't using the currently existing misbehaving table?

When in doubt, if its *1* procedure that's the problem, you start with the procedure, not the server. Go to the execution plan, determine what it's doing. Review...
