  • RE: Maximum flow from continuous flow rate

The execution plan for this is some serious ugly. I'm getting ~ 1 minute runtimes on my PC, but I want to make sure the logic is what you're...

    Brian Kier (10/31/2011)

that doesn't sound quite right, though I'm not sure. There doesn't really need to be any parameters. If I assume a table is filled with 86,400 records (1...

  • RE: SSIS - PITA

    isuckatsql (10/31/2011)

Why is SSIS such a dog ?

Erm, because we took the watermelon for a walk and found Batman playing Hopscotch?

Honestly, without knowing more details about how you applied the...

  • RE: Protecting Intellectual Property - execute access only to SP

    PhilM99 (10/31/2011)

I have a client who wishes to give access to a database to one of his clients. This database contains complex stored procedures which represent intellectual property which is...

  • RE: Maximum flow from continuous flow rate

    Brian Kier (10/31/2011)

Group By Hour would work if I were after the maximum avg flowrate for each hour, with hour being between 1:00 and 2:00, 2:00 and 3:00, etc. ...

  • RE: Maximum flow from continuous flow rate

Can you give a little more detail as to the process you'd like the SQL to perform?

In my head, I'm thinking you'd just grab MAX(flowrate) group by (Hour Dividers), but...

  • RE: Horizontal filtering(or way to say it)

You're looking for PIVOT, or Crosstab query. 🙂 Two methods, same basic result.

I hate it when I don't know the keyword either, drives me nuts. Let us know...

Out of curiousity, OP... Usually the older systems were heavily tuned and something 'tipped', or something new exploded (which wouldn't be on 32bit, these days). ...

    Evil Kraig F (10/27/2011)

    Not with GETDATE(), no.

You could generate a CLR function, or even just a database function, to replace this. However, you can't directly overload the GETDATE()...

  • RE: Index scan vs. seek

    Lexa (10/28/2011)

    GilaMonster (10/28/2011)

I'd like to see the exec plan with the scan please.

Now that I updated stats, don't seem to have any scans at all... But will post if I...

  • RE: Index scan vs. seek

    Agreed.

Lexa, I realize you purposely obfuscated that index, but we're going to need more to really get into this if you want to. Part of it is because we're...

    L' Eomot Inversé (10/27/2011)

I finaly got round to reading this article, after a vey long delay (it's been sitting in mt "to read" stack for the best part of a...

  • RE: Time Elapsed Testing

    bdotjones (10/27/2011)

    Hi,

I have to allow users enter dates that are future or past dates based off the offset values that are stored in the database. So if today is 10/27/2011...

  • RE: Index scan vs. seek

Estimated data volume and cost of traversing just the leaf level vs. running the tree repeatedly.

  • RE: Query Plan Execution Order

I'm going to have to be a dissenting voice, I agree with Paul as to the nature of 'executes first'. It's what starts the chain, and begins the process.

    Thanks...
