I don't have any servers, including development, using per user licensing. I thought you could make a one-time change from "per user" to "per processor" though. It will NOT let...

I 100% agree with David on this. IF you are going to continue using SQLMail though, you need to read the following:

Those will solve 99% of any issues...

Log PI is another tool. I believe they also provide a free evaluation. We ended up buying Lumigent Log Explorer where I work. It's a nice tool.

Microsoft did a really solid job with the SQL Server 7.0 to 2000 upgrade. Read the upgrade notes here:
