If you have the .mdf and .ldf you can simply attach the database, no restore involved. If it's truly a .bak, then it's restore database.

Larger queries may also try and resolve themselves in tempdb. The reality is, what's running on the server? And then, whay are your resources so limited? You should have enough...

Deleting data does not free up the space on the hard-disk.You need to shrink the files

Don't shrink the files unless you're out of disk...
