Women in Technology -- How about at SSC?

  • The Women in Technology editorial, along with its discussion threads, fascinated me. There were some interesting facts and not-facts, and some common reactions to those facts. But in reading both the editorial and the forum, it struck me that I was interacting with many people of whose gender I was completely unaware. Some handles are pretty* conclusive (John), while others are ambiguous (Lynn).

In this case, I personally don't care what your gender is, I'm more interested in the overall makeup of this site (or at least those who answer this poll...) I also have never tried creating a poll on this site, so thought this would be a good experiment.

    * but not entirely.

  • Tell me what you think:

    Kim

    Stacey

    Shannon

    Lynn

  • I know what you mean, I though Lynn was female for a very long time. (just based on the name, Lynn, please don't read anything into that)

Not to worry Gail, I've lived with it for years. When I was in Junior High School, my class schedule would show Sex: F but I was registered in the Boy PE class. Figure that one out.

So, no guesses yet on the names above??

Edit, fixed a slight typo. I didn't have to register, I was registered in the Boy's PE class.

IIRC, this was finally fixed when I went to High School.

Sounds to me like a missed opportunity....

    Lynn

I have a male friend named Kim and another male acquaintance named Shannon - so I will go with male on those.

Lynn, if it is you, male. If my suspicion is correct and you are throwing a curve ball I will go female.

Stacey - female just because I have no known male acquaintances by that name.

Actually, all male (yes, Lynn in this case is me).

I work with a Kim, Shannon was one of the Directors for Cubbies (AWANA's) for my two youngest daughters (I did Cubbies with my oldest), Stacey is a close friend that I met 1.5 years ago through AYSO Soccer.

Agree entirely - I don't mind who helps me out when I post a question here, be they male/female, orange, green or purple - as long as the advice given is usefull
