I have been looking into our SSIS packages which run on a daily, weekly basis and since I am new to DW technology and trying to learn, I have couple of questions regarding some of the things I have noticed in our environment. We don't have dev, test server where we test packages. We have 1 production server where we host our DW. SSIS packages run and update our DW. Is this how it's supposed to be? Shouldn't there be a staging area, run our packages there and then move the data to DW? Also consultants have sysadmin rights which I wanted to revoke but was told not to. Any advise/suggestions?
