SQL Server 2005 running as a Local Admin account

  • Hi,

I have read the "Picking Service Accounts" article and yes you guessed it we are running most of our SQL servers as a local admin account.

On new SQL installation we have no problem as the SETUP takes care of this, however, in an already existing SQL 2005 server environment how can I change the account to a normal user account and not the administrator account? Is there an tips on doing this?

    Thanks

  • Use SQL Server Configuration Manager. It should take care of any permissions the designated account requires. All you should have to do is type in the name & password.

  • Thanks for your help, I'll test it tomorrow and let you know.
