SQL 2008 'Cannot Add Domain Users'

  • I currently am creating an infrastructure with 3 VPC's; DNS, SQL 2008 and an Application server. I am no way a DBA or anything similar but where I'm running in to problems is trying to setup MOSS on my Application server and directing the configuration wizard to my SQL2008 server.

I've created the needed account on the DNS 'SQLService' and made it a Domain User and Administrator. I run in to the problem when I try to add that DNS account to SQL 2008 security logins. I can navigate the domain to find the user and then enable the specific rights, however when I try to add the user it says, 'Windows NT user or group 'DOMAIN\SQLService' not found. Check the name again.'

  • Your terminology is strange. You should have created a domain account in Active Directory not a DNS entry. Or atleast thats what I think your looking for.
