Rename Database path names?

  • After installing my first SQL Server 2005 database, I found the path names for the database files to be too long.  Is it possible to change this for all of my databases without too much grief?   A reinstall is possible, but not desired.

  • I presume you are speaking of the default path where database files are stored? In that case, you can search on 'moving databases' in this website. An easy way is to dettach and attach the files. Note that moving system databases requires more work.

  • You can also try Books on Line

  • This is very helpful.  Thank you.

I couldn't find this in books online.
