We recently switched back to username/password for Azure SQL because of the repeated Azure Active Directory outages. During the most recent outage a few weeks ago, our system kept running, and our DBAs maintained their access as well. We would love to use AAD and turn off SQL authentication for the sake of improved security, but that is currently a guarantee of system downtime.
