Real time sync from One SQL server to another

  • Hi All,

Please forgive me if this is a simple query but im pretty new to all of this. I am working with a company who are developing an app for us. My manager would like to explore the idea of being able to live sync the data from their database to our database so we can query etc from our end without interfering with the main database.  So this would be a real time sync.  So essentially our database would be clone of the master database but only a read only version and only syncing the tables we need.  A few questions if i can:

    1. First, I'm just wondering if this is possible as in the past i have just had access to the host database and queried that directly so i have never needed this functionality.
    2. I'm assuming if we had a clone we could essential use this as reporting only and there would be no strain on the master database.
    3. Is this do able between different versions ie if the Master is an Oracle database, can this data feed a Azure Database/SQL

    Many thanks
