Need help on Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack

  • I installed Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (10.50.1600.1 RTM Enterprise Edition 64-bit) on Window Server 2008 Enterprise 64-bit.

Can anyone help and advise for any service packs that I can apply to?

I tried to download Microsoft SQL Server 2008 service pack 1 and applied.

However, I got the error "There are no SQL Server instance or share features that can be updated on this computer".

Futher my search, I found out that "Make sure you are not trying to install SP1 onto a an unsupported version as in this case where SQL 2008 SP1 was being attempted to be applied on SQL 2008 R2.".

    Thanks,

    Edwin

  • Off the top of my head, no I don't thing there are any full blown service packs for R2

  • SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2 are different versions of SQL Server in the "proper" sense, despite the similar names. Therefore SP1 for SQL Server 2008 (non-R2) cannot be applied to a SQL Server 2008 R2 instance.

  • AFAIK - There is no SP for R2 yet.
