Installing SQL Server 2005 client tools on top of existing SQL Server 2005 Database Engine running on SP2

    I have a SQL Server 2005 Database Engine with Standard Edition installed on a Server.

    It does not have the SQL Server 2005 client tools installed.

    Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.3282.00 (Intel X86)

    Standard Edition on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2)

    The question here is;

    To install the SQL Server 2005 client tool on the server, do i have to uninstall the SQL Server or simply i can install the client tools on top of it.

    As the current SQL Server 2005 version 9.00.3282.00, will there not any conflict installing SQL Server client tools?

    You should install the tools 'on top' of the existing installation and then re-install the service packs and cumulative updates to bring everything up to the latest available.
