First off, I am a novice with SQL Server. So my question may appear too trivial. But my problem is that I want to create a DB on my computer first and then transfer the DB with its data from my computer to a remote server that our Web Host controls. Is there a way to do this?

Probably the easiest way is to detach the database, then copy it to the other machine and reattach. Take a look at sp_detach and sp_attach in books online. In SQL2K you can do this by just right clicking the database and selecting attach or detach.

I prefer backup and restore, but attach is nice also.
There is an aritcle on the site here:
