How to Get Started with SQL Server CE

    Assuming that I have:

    • A Windows XP laptop
    • An HP H4350 PDA (Pocket PC)
    • A background as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA (4.21a through 2000)
    • A background as a Developer (some years ago, but not on a Microsoft platform)

    Newbie Pocket PC Questions:

    • What software package(s) would I need to get started developing software for the Pocket PC, preferably with some variant of VisualBasic?
    • What "buzz words" should I use to locate related resources (books, online documentation, web forums, etc.)?
    • Do you know of any particularly effective resources that would help me come up-to-speed on the Pocket PC quickly?
    • Do you know of any shortcomings in the HP H4350 that would make developing software for it difficult or of limited value to other users?

    Start with google and do the following search. pocket pc programming "visual basic"

    Unfortunately I have a Pocket PC and haven't had a chance to site down and do anything myself.

    [The Developer] will need Visual Studio .NET 2003 and the Pocket PC 2003 SDK. To build mobile web applications for the Pocket PC, use the ASP.NET Mobile Controls in Visual Studio .NET 2003.

    Windows Mobile Development

    Actually you can do plenty of development with the free download Embedded Visual Tools from Microsoft. There are lots of tutorials on DevBuzz.
