DBmirroring in AWS RDS Cloud

  • Hi,

I would like to know which ports/firewall rules needs to be open for below requirements:

    1. For configuring DB mirroring(endpoints, ports etc)

    2. To fileshare between PrincipleDB server to MirrorDB server

    3. If i would like to Connect to AWS SQL server from my desktop SSMS client tool by providing the IP address of AWS SQL server and not directly RDP to the AWS virtual SQL server.

    Appreciate your help.

    Thanks,

  • Sorry the title was wrong- i am asking about AMAZON Web Services -EC2 and not RDS.

  • Does any one has done this earlier? please give some insight. Thanks

  • I know that this is an older post, but I just recently did an end to end configuration of both Database Mirroring (both Sync and Async) coupled with Transactional Replication, and it worked like a charm. It is much different from configuring the mirroring on stand-alone systems in that certificates are not used, but you also need to use unique ports for each side of the mirror (something that the stand-alone configurations have not needed to have done either).

This was with 2008 R2. Was extremely seemless.

  • Does your instance utilize true mirroring? and is it configured the same way as one would configure the mirror from one host to another?
